Strathcona County Investigate Hit and Run at Shoeless Joe’s

Strathcona County, Alberta – Strathcona County RCMP are asking the public for assistance in identifying a female responsible for a hit and run in the Shoeless Joe’s parking lot on Broadmoor Boulevard in Sherwood Park.

On May 9, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. the complainant observed significant damage to driver’s side of his truck when exiting the restaurant.  

Surveillance video shows a female leaving the restaurant and entering a vehicle. The vehicle is then observed backing up causing damage to the driver’s side of the truck and then left the scene.

Strathcona County RCMP Investigate Serious Collision on Highway 16 ***UPDATE***

Strathcona County, Alberta – On Tuesday May 29, 2018 at 11:47 a.m. Strathcona County RCMP and Strathcona County Emergency Services responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 16 and Range Road 224.

A vehicle was travelling westbound on Highway 16 when it collided with an SUV travelling northbound on Range Road 224.

The male driver of the SUV was fatally injured and pronounced deceased at the scene.

The male driver of the vehicle was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.  

Traffic Advisory Strathcona County RCMP Investigate Serious Collision on Highway 16

Strathcona County, Alberta - Strathcona County RCMP and Strathcona County Emergency Services are currently on scene of a serious injury collision on Highway 16 near Range Road 224.

Traffic is being rerouted northbound on Range Road 224.Traffic will be delayed in the area for several hours to come.

RCMP are asking motorists to avoid the area and choose alternate routes if possible.

An update will be provided once further information is available.

Strathcona County RCMP Investigate Thefts From Homeowner’s Yards

Strathcona County, Alberta: The Strathcona County RCMP is investigating a series of thefts from homeowner’s yard and gardens in Sherwood Park.

Since the beginning of May 2018, Strathcona County RCMP has received over twenty reports of suspects stealing items such as; solar lights, statues, lawn decorations, concrete blocks, flowers and plants from lawns and gardens.

Many of the thefts have occurred in the Glen Allan area of Sherwood Park but have also been reported in other areas including; Charlton Heights, Clarkdale Meadows and Heritage Hills.

Strathcona County RCMP Investigates Two Vehicle Collision With Injuries

Strathcona County, Alberta – On Monday May 7, 2018 Strathcona County RCMP and Strathcona County Emergency Services responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Baseline Road and Broadview Drive in Sherwood Park.

A Chevrolet Sonic was travelling westbound on Baseline Road when it made a U-Turn at the intersection of Broadview Road and was hit by a Dodge Caravan travelling eastbound.

The 24-year-old driver of the Chevrolet Sonic and 22-year-old passenger were transported to hospital and both remain in serious condition.

Strathcona County RCMP Investigate Motor Vehicle Collision ***UPDATE***

Strathcona County, Alberta – On May 7, 2018 Strathcona County RCMP and Strathcona County Emergency Services responded to a single vehicle collision involving a semi-truck at the intersection of Sherwood Drive and Lakeland Drive.

The semi-truck was travelling northbound on Sherwood Drive when it hit the northeast light standard.

Police believe the 52-year-old male driver of the semi-truck suffered a medical episode prior to the collision.

The male remains in hospital in stable condition.

No other vehicles were involved in the collision.

Strathcona County RCMP Remind Motorists to SLOW DOWN

Strathcona County, Alberta – Strathcona County RCMP and its road safety partners remind motorists that road construction season has begun and drivers need to be extra cautious when approaching construction zones.

Construction zone speed limits are set with two principals in mind. First, they represent the maximum speed you can safely drive at given the road conditions. Second, they safeguard workers, who are at risk of being struck by passing vehicles that are moving too quickly.

Strathcona County, Alberta - This morning at approximately 7:57 a.m. Strathcona County RCMP and Strathcona County Emergency Services responded to a single vehicle collision at the intersection of Sherwood Drive and Lakeland Drive.

A semi-truck was travelling north on Sherwood Drive when it hit a light standard.

The intersection at Sherwood Drive and Lakeland Drive is currently closed. Traffic will be delayed in the area for several hours to come.

RCMP are asking motorists to avoid the area and choose alternate routes if possible.

Strathcona RCMP Reminds Cyclists of Road Safety and Laws

Sherwood Park, Alberta – As warmer weather brings out more bicycles on our road ways, Strathcona County RCMP reminds cyclists about the importance of road safety and laws. On the road, a bicycle is classified as a vehicle, and cyclists have the same rights and responsibilities as drivers of motor vehicles. Since bicycles are one of the smallest vehicles on the road, you must make an effort to be seen and heard. Reflective tape, reflectors and lights make you more visible. Bright clothing during the day and reflective clothing at night will help people see you better.

Strathcona County Enforcement Services Nab Speeders on Highway 216

Strathcona County, Alberta – During the past few weeks Strathcona County RCMP and Enforcement Services have received several complaints regarding speeding on Highway 216. As a result, officers dedicated six hours of enforcement to this location amongst other locations in the County over the past weekend.

During this period of time, our officers detected over 70 vehicles exceeding the posted speed limits with some startling speeds;
