Strathcona County RCMP Respond to Drive-by Shooting – Update #2

Strathcona County, Alta. – The Strathcona County RCMP continues to investigate the drive by shooting that occurred in the Summerwood area of Sherwood Park, Alta. and are requesting the public’s assistance.

Police believe the suspect vehicle involved is a 2012 white Dodge Ram Mega Cab truck. The suspect vehicle was observed on video fleeing the Summerwood area immediately following the shooting. The same vehicle also confirmed to be involved in a break and enter near Lac La Biche, Alta. in the early morning hours of Aug. 27, 2021.

On Aug. 27, 2021 at 7:27 p.m., Strathcona County RCMP responded to the complaint of a vehicle fire near Range Road 223 and Township Road 521 in Strathcona County, Alta. Investigators along with assistance of the RCMP K Division Auto Theft Unit determined that the burnt vehicle is the same truck involved in the Aug. 23, 2021 shooting in Sherwood Park and the Aug. 27, 2021 break and enter near Lac La Biche.

The RCMP are asking the public to review any video surveillance or dash camera video during these dates in and around Sherwood Park and Lac La Biche for this white Dodge Mega Cab truck. If you believe, you have seen this vehicle between Aug. 23, 2021 and Aug. 27, 2021 please report to your local police.

“Public cooperation has assisted in the advancement in the investigation,” says S/Sgt. Andrew Kyle of the General Investigation Section. “We continue to encourage the public to continue to come forward with any information.”

Strathcona County RCMP provide further information for drive-by shooting

Strathcona Count, Alta. - On 2021-07-23 at 0052 hours, Strathcona County RCMP received a complaint of possible shots fired in the Summerwood Subdivision in Strathcona County.   Two callers from different locations in the Summerwood area, reported that they heard what sounded like either gunshots or fireworks in the area.  Callers stated that they heard multiple loud “pops” but again were not sure if they were fireworks or gunshots and unable to provide a specific location at that time.  RCMP members were dispatched immediately and arrived in the area very shortly after. RCMP members conducted foot and vehicle patrols in Summerwood and were unable to locate any source of the noise complaint or any ongoing suspicious activity.

On 2021-07-23 at approximately 0755 hours, Strathcona County RCMP received a complaint where a caller reported finding expended shell casings in the Summerwood area.  RCMP members responded and identified a residence that appeared to be involved. RCMP members immediately spoke with the occupant who stated they were unaware this incident had occurred.  The residence was immediately secured, while RCMP continued their  investigation.  At this time we are unable to release further details, however the investigation is ongoing.

Strathcona County RCMP would like to reassure community members that their safety is always the main priority and they will be notified immediately should this , or any other investigation bring information to light that there is a concern for public safety.

Strathcona County RCMP respond to drive-by shooting

Strathcona County, Alta. - On August 23rd, 2021 at 7:55am, members of the Strathcona County RCMP Detachment responded to a complaint of a drive-by-shooting at a residence in the Summerwood area of Sherwood Park.  The investigation has determined that around 12:50am on August 23rd, 2021, an unknown number of suspects fired multiple shots into a residence before fleeing the area.  The occupants of the residence were home at the time of the shooting, however nobody was injured. Strathcona County RCMP want to advise the public that this was not a random act of violence and there is no current threat to the public.
