Strathcona County RCMP Arrest Three Youths for Robbery and Assault

Sherwood Park, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP arrests three youths in relation to a robbery and assault on a local transit bus.

On Feb. 12, 2022 at 3:58 p.m., Strathcona County RCMP received a 911 call from a bus driver who witnessed an assault. Three youths attempted to take a backpack from a male passenger and then assaulted him before taking off. The male victim received facial injuries as a result of the assault.

RCMP located the three youths at the Sherwood Park mall but they fled on foot. Police arrested the youth a short time later in the mall parking lot.

Incidental to arrest, the youth were searched and police located bear spray and a pellet gun.

Two 15-year-old males from Edmonton, Alta. have been charged with:

  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Robbery
  • Resist arrest
  • Assault cause bodily harm

A 14-year-old male from Edmonton, Alta has been charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Assault cause bodily harm
  • Resist arrest
  • Fail to comply

All three youths were released following a Judicial Interim Release hearing and are scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on March 8, 2022.

In accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the name of the youths charged will not be released.
